Any activity, substance, object, or behavior that has become the major focus of a person's life to the exclusion of other activities, or that has begun to harm the individual or others physically, mentally, or socially is said to be a type of Behavioral Addiction. Many behavioral health problems may cause as much damage to one’s health, finance, and livelihoods of those affected. Behavioral addictions often times occur when someone participates in an activity to the point where it negatively affects their lives, and they are unable to stop doing so, such as gambling, sex, pornography or even love. The compulsion to do the activity gets in the way of the addict's ability to sleep, work, or have meaningful personal relationships.
